REASON: Her history mentions abuse, as she was abusive to her daughter, Hiachi. She was also harassed by her neighbors.

Futaomote Masashige (双面 正成 : Masashige Futaomote) is an antagonist in The Witch Trials and a major character in Control's Book of The Mimic. She is the mother of Hiachi Masashige, a descendant of Kusonoki Masashige, and an ancestor of Yasu, Juno, and Keiko.

Appearances

Futao and Mote, collectively known as Futaomote, are the final monsters seen in The Witch Trials. They are seen freely roaming around Kyoto Town. Futao is also seen in Chapter IV, embracing her daughter, Hiachi while trapped in Saigomo's web.

Physical Appearance

Alive

Futaomote stands at an average height for her age. She has waist length raven black hair and adorns a floral patterned kimono. Her face is shadowed like her daughter.

Alive (Impulsive)

Futaomote's impulsive form shows her normal form, however, she is disguised with a mask. The mask is identical to the one that the outdated Mote wore. The base of the mask is colored in white, with the details being black or grey.

Remodeled Futao

Futao still retains the exact features of her old model, but, she has a new ribcage and skirt mesh. Some changes have been made to her face. Her eyes have become smaller and there are now black tears pouring down from them. She has a slight frown, and her face is more realistic than before. Her rib cage's shafts are thinner and she has many more ribs than her old model. Her clavicle goes beyond her shoulders. She also seems to be taller than her old model.

Remodeled Mote

She looks the same as Futao. However, some changes have been made to her face. Her grin is much wider and looks very eerie, and her mouth now has some black liquid dripping out of it. Her eyes are a lot wider now. Just like Futao, Mote seems to be taller than her old model.

Old Futao

Futao is a beautiful woman with a grey and white floral dress, exposing her rib cage. She also ornaments her hair with a hat with the same texture as her dress. She has hip long, silky dark hair and a calm expression on her face. She drags a katana along with her as she walks. She represents the motherly side of Futaomote and bears the pure butterfly spirit.

Old Mote

Mote, on the other hand, looks identical to Futao. The only exception is that she has a horrifying face with a large nose and wide smile. She also has two scythes instead of a katana. Mote represents the impulsive side of Futaomote and bears the corrupted butterfly spirit.

Temperance

Futao

Futao is extremely hostile. If you are far away from her, you can outrun her for some time. Futao's speed is thirty six, so she is ten studs per second faster than you sprinting, and twenty when you are walking, and she takes ninety of your HP in one hit.

Mote

Mote on the other hand, is extremely volatile. She scores as one of the fastest monsters throughout The Mimic, have the speed of forty one. Mote is fifteen studs per second faster than you sprinting and twenty five faster than you walking. She deals ten hp per hit.

To escape Futao and Mote, you must head to the safehouses scattered throughout the town. Futao and Mote are far too tall to enter the safehouses, so they should keep you safe and aid you while you try to steal their butterfly spirits from them. Since they immediately chase you upon notice, you should camp by the nearest safe house you see and make them pass by to steal the spirits. You can also sneak behind them, making sure you're not seen while doing so.

History

Futaomote's Life

Futaomote Masashige was a young woman who was born with a terrible impulse disorder, so even though she was sweet and caring, she would sometimes have a meltdown. At some point, she married a man and lived with him in Kyoto Town. Her husband left her for unknown reasons, leaving her to raise their daughter on her own. After her husband abandoned her, Futaomote's neighbors verbally abused her and called her cruel and twisted, when she was truly a kind and loving mother who wanted her daughter to have the best life possible.

Rumor after rumor was spread. Soon enough the village had good enough reasons to shun Futaomote from them. They considered her a threat, a danger to everyone. Although, the one thing those fools didn't know is that Futaomote had a daughter whom she hid from the dangers. Her beautiful, beloved, and precious daughter, Hiachi.

Hiachi was the only person left in Futaomote's life, and Futaomote loved her daughter more than life itself.

Getting Shaku For Hiachi

One day, Futaomote went to the Sakura forest to collect berries so she could feed both herself and Hiachi. While on her trip to the forest, she found a doll in an abandoned cabin underneath beautiful Sakura trees. The Sakura trees were painted pink and red. Futaomote smiled and took the doll back home with her to give to her daughter as a gift. She went deeper into the forest to grab some berries. Satisfied, she took her full basket of berries back home with her.

When Futaomote opened the door, her little daughter Hiachi greeted her with a warm smile on her face.

"Mama is back! Mama is back!" exclaimed Hiachi in excitement.

Futaomote picked Hiachi up and said, "Yes sweetie, Mama is back from getting berries for you. I got a little gift for you, too!" Hiachi giggled as Futaomote set her down.

Futaomote reached into her basket and pulled out a beautiful, porcelain doll. Her skin was fairly pale, her hair was as black as a gem. Futaomote gave Hiachi the new doll and Hiachi danced around with joy and with her new doll.

Futaomote slightly grinned while asking, "What are you going to name her?"

Hiachi looked around her house while thinking to herself. She picked her nails nervously while thinking of a name for her new doll. Futaomote frowned while thinking as well. She gazed at Hiachi as she watched her thinking. Hiachi mumbled too low for Futaomote to hear.

"What was that, dear?" Futaomote asked while she set the basket of berries on the table.

Hiachi repeated herself, "Can her name be Shaku?"

Futaomote froze. She stared into the mirror at herself, seeing the opposite side of herself. A side that only her daughter knew yet never understood.

While Futaomote angrily smashed the mirror, Hiachi cowered while hugging her doll for comfort in order to not feel scared. Futaomote kept hitting the mirror over and over again while yelling "I hate you! I hate you! I hate you!" at herself in the mirror.

After a while, the mirror was completely broken, piece by piece. Futaomote turned around to her precious daughter, whom she loved so much she would sacrifice herself for, crying. Realising what a show she put on in front of her little girl, Futaomote ran to her daughter and started crying with her, in the disappointment of how impulsive she felt.

Futaomote's Curse

A week after these dramatic events, Futaomote needed berries so she and her daughter wouldn't go hungry. She made sure her precious little girl was safe at home before she went to the forest to gather some berries. She was almost at the berry trees when suddenly, she saw a tall, mysterious woman.

Futaomote looked up at the woman and asked her, "How can I help you, ma'am?" The black figure stared down at the young woman. Futaomote felt unsafe around this figure, but she saw nothing wrong in talking to her, "Well, if you aren't going to answer, I'll just be on my way."

Suddenly, the figure stopped Futaomote before she could continue finding some more berries for her and her daughter.

The figure asked Futaomote, "What's something you wish for? You are very beautiful, and yet you seem so sad."

Futaomote started shaking angrily. She started punching the grass and ripping it out violently.

After her impulse disorder got the best of her, the woman in black told her, "My my, what an episode that was. Now, please answer this question. What is something that you wish for?"

"I wish to be normal..." Futaomote said, crying her eyes out, "I want my daughter to live a normal life... she constantly gets bullied by the village children because of me... I'm just tired of me and her being shunned. I wish to be normal, but no one will help me..."

After explaining her problems, the woman in black told her that if she consumed a spirit, she would be normal. Instead, the spirit cursed Futaomote to become one of Kintoru's puppets.

Years Of Being Cursed

Futaomote hated to see her daughter cry all the time due to the feeling of betrayal she experienced. Futaomote comforted her daughter and made her feel better when she was sad. Futaomote was at some point assigned to inhabit Kyoto Town.

Meeting Juno

Centuries had passed after these events, Futaomote now chases her descendant, Juno, throughout her village in an attempt to eliminate her. In the ending of The Witch Trials, she told Juno that she wasn't a bad mother at all. Kintoru was the reason why she was the way she is and now became one of her puppets.

Trapped In The Witch's Web

Futaomote Embracing Hiachi.

Futaomote as well as her child, Shaku, Kusonoki, Biwaki, Kaito, Kuriko, Megumi, and Mihari are all trapped in a spider web. Seeing that her daughter is scared, Futaomote embraces Hiachi protectively with high hopes, as they all watch Yasu defeat Kintoru.

Afterlife

After Yasu kills Kintoru, Futaomote, her daughter, and the other puppets that are stuck in the spider web are finally free from the demon and can live happily together in the afterlife.

Personality

Even though she had a hard life, Futaomote was a loving and caring mother who cared for her little daughter, Hiachi. With her impulsive disorder, Futaomote was very hard on herself, and thought she was a terrible mother, but she really wasn't. Sometimes she would destroy furniture in her home or even abuse Hiachi, but she still loved her daughter and felt sorry when she would snap.

She continues to protect her daughter even as a puppet, as shown in Saigomo's Web in Chapter IV where she is comforting Hiachi, by hugging her, while watching Yasu mutilate Saigomo's hearts and kill her once and for all.
